In September 2007, the Watson School at Binghamton University launched the Catalyst for Innovation, a half-day on-campus event that brings together companies and industry leaders to discuss tangible solutions to enhance and grow New York State’s technology businesses.

This first-ever “roll up your sleeves” event invited hands-on exploration of the operations challenges facing technology companies and the solutions that can be developed through continued partnerships with the University and members of the Southern Tier Opportunity Coalition (STOC), a private sector and academic initiative to help address economic growth in the Greater Binghamton region.

In 2007, the Catalyst asked two questions of attendees - what is the key challenge facing our technology-based economy that can be resolved through unique partnerships with academia and community agencies like Binghamton University and STOC? And what is the key solution will keep our technology-based economy a vital part of sustainable growth in the Southern Tier?

Watch for the announcement about the 2008 event where we will bring this effort full circle as we work on immediate, near-term and long-term solutions.
